Design Process & The Design Fee Structure
Design Fee
First, the client should set a realistic budget for the project. Next, we’ll review the space and talk through the client’s design needs. From there, we can determine the design fee. Design fees are calculated based on square footage and typically follow the average national rate. This fee stands alone, giving the client the option to purchase just the design plan if they choose to handle the project themselves. The fee is paid upfront, and the client can make up to three changes to the original design. This fee will qualify as your initial deposit on your contract, making it official.
Project Management
Once we’ve finalized the design plan, clients can choose to hire Artistic Interiors to oversee the project’s execution. Project management is billed at (National Rate) per hour, based on the estimated number of work hours needed. The fee will be divided into benchmark payments and invoiced throughout the project. A detailed spreadsheet of the budget and expenses will be available at any time for reference.
Project Management Services:
- Working alongside architects to make sure the project’s vision is communicated.
- Spec of construction trades and contractors – Vetting, price negotiating, contractor meetings.
- Liaison services between trades, contractors, inspectors, architects, vendors, and clients.
- On-site trade management – supervision, scheduling, organizing, instruction, quality control.
- Budget management to ensure the project is within its budget boundaries.
- Product research
- Custom product production management
- Product orders, tending to deliveries, shopping.
- Staging the project once all contractor work is done and all products are in.
Commissions
Once a client chooses to hire Artistic Interiors to handle their project, products like furnishings, accessories, building materials, and trade services purchased through the company will be billed at a “Net Cost + Commission rate.” Commission always stay within fair market value. This will be discussed during the client’s first meeting with Artistic Interiors.
Consulting
We offer Design and Decor Consulting to our clients at an hourly rate, covering a wide range of design needs. From helping choose building materials, colors, furnishings, accessories, textiles, and lighting, to joining you on shopping trips to designer showrooms, in-home consultations, and office-based sessions, we’ve got you covered. Styling and staging are also part of our consulting services. These can be billed on a retainer basis or as needed. Contact us today to learn more about our consulting services.
